Digital consumer protection
In order to successfully shape digitization, consumers must be educated about the risks and supported in arming themselves against them. With this in mind, consumer protection in the digital world is upgraded in the German government's coalition agreement of February 2018. Specifically, this means that "consumer protection has been established as an additional task of the BSI."
As a manufacturer-independent and competent technical body, the BSI supports consumers in the risk assessment of technologies, products, services and media offerings. In addition to better protection for individuals, this simultaneously increases society's resilience to cyber dangers of all kinds.
