Why do I need a cloud?

Nowadays there is no need to only store documents and data, photos, films and even applications on the hard drive of mobile devices or PCs at home. They can now be stored on remote servers in what we refer to as the cloud.
In particular, these services are appealing to smartphone and tablet users in order to save storage space on their devices. In addition, storing documents centrally in the cloud means they can be accessed from any location with different internet-enabled devices.
This means photos can be viewed on the go with a smartphone, shared with friends or edited with a laptop. Better still, by saving files in the cloud, different people can work on a shared document without being in the same location. This saves time and tedious coordination. However, centrally storing data also has its risks: you share your data with a third party, a cloud service provider.
