Digitalisation and replacement scanning are concepts that continue to make inroads into all areas of business, administration and government. Together, these also form an increasingly important component for the implementation of the German and European e-government strategies. To properly account for the associated challenges in these processes, and especially the importance of preserving the evidential value of the digitalised material in comparison with its paper originals, the BSI decided to publish a Technical Guideline entitled "Replacement scanning" (RESISCAN) in 2013. For users working in administration, the judiciary, business and healthcare, this Technical Guideline provides practice-oriented guidance for ensuring the secure design of processes for replacement scanning.

The audit is completed by a certified RESISCAN Auditor on the premises where the scanning process to be audited will be operated.
