By Industrial espionage German companies lose in the tens of billions every year. One threat in terms of attacking confidential information is illegal eavesdropping on meetings, telephone calls and conferences. External service providers can be commissioned to protect against the risk of eavesdropping. The problem is that it can be difficult for non-specialists to assess the competence and trustworthiness of anti-eavesdropping companies.

The BSI has its own competencies in the field of security against eavesdropping, but can only provide corresponding services to authorities. For commercial enterprises and other private customers as potential clients, it is guaranteed that certified anti-eavesdropping service providers

• Comply with minimum quality standards in the planning, implementation and follow-up of anti-eavesdropping checks,
• are technically competent and use a broad and meaningful spectrum of anti-eavesdropping test methods,
• are highly independent and reliable.

There may be qualitative differences between anti-eavesdropping checks by private providers and procedures within the framework of national security. The certification therefore does not enable and authorize the implementation of anti-eavesdropping services within the framework of national security.
