Technical Guidelines

The aim of the BSI's technical guidelines (BSI-TR) is to disseminate appropriate IT security standards. Technical Guidelines are therefore generally addressed to everyone involved in setting up or securing IT systems. They supplement the BSI's technical test regulations and provide criteria and methods for conformity tests of both the interoperability of IT security components and the implemented IT security requirements. Existing standards (e.g. protection profiles according to Common Criteria or interoperability standards such as areas in which certifications according to technical guidelines ISIS-MTT are referenced and supplemented where appropriate. Technical guidelines are originally recommendations. They only become binding when they are individually specified by the user.

For numerous technical guidelines, the BSI offers the possibility to prove the conformity of a product/system to a technical guideline through Zertifizierung. Here you will find a Auflistung der Prüfbereiche areas in which certifications according to technical guidelines are offered
