Part one of Technical Guideline TR-03109 contains the minimum functional requirements that a smart meter gateway must meet. The document is divided into three subject areas -- local metrological networks (LMNs), home area networks (HANs), and wire area networks (WANs) -- and defines detailed technical specifications on this basis. In addition, it provides further details on internal logical processes (such as rule-based pricing and the interaction between gateways and security modules).
