The process of designing maximum-availability data centres, or DC networks that provide mutual redundancy, cannot be restricted to the appropriate arrangement of internal DC technical facilities. It is no less important that the environment of the DC location is taken into consideration accordingly, in terms of the threats it poses and the resulting risks.

This document is intended to serve as a manual and guideline for decision-making.

The BSI received a great deal of important information and valuable questions about Version 1.0, which was published in late 2018. This is why a Version 2.0 was published in October 2019.
