As part of the eIDAS Regulation, the category of qualified website certificate is introduced for website certificates (TLS certificates). Beyond the requirements for extended validation certificates set by the CA/B-Form (Association of Certification Authorities for TLS Certificates and Browser Manufacturers), this category includes supervision of the certification authority by a supervisory authority of one of the EU Member States. This is intended to achieve greater reliability of the bodies and thus greater trust in the certificates.

Certification according to BSI TR-03145 fulfils the technical and organisational security requirements of the eIDAS Regulation for qualified website certificates.
