The BSI information security consulting for target groups from the political area is the central point of contact for candidates, members of parliament, parties and parliamentary groups on information security at federal level. Information security consulting also supports special target groups such as political functionaires and the Chief Electoral Officer of federal elections. Consultations are confidential and vendor-neutral.
Basis for consultations
The Security Consultancy for Politics supports its clients in achieving a level of security that is appropriate and consistent with the respective need for protection and raises awareness of information security topics.
The information security consultancy adapts its advice to the needs of its clients. The BSI information security consulting first clarifies the needs and requirements for individual security objectives. Certain requirements may concern, for example, the handling of Social Media, digital privacy protection or assistance in the event of security incidents.
The basic standard for the consultation is the IT-Grundschutz of the BSI, the individual IT security concepts and the development of information security management systems (ISMS). As a result of a consultation process, those responsible can realistically assess the level of security, develop concepts and take measures to better secure their information and systems.
Using synergies - contributing knowledge
The overarching goals of information security consulting are confidentiality, availability and integrity of information collected, processed and used in the political area. In order to achieve these goals, the BSI is involved in raising awareness among candidates and elected officials, supports account verification in social networks and offers a comprehensive check on all relevant aspects of cyber security as part of the CYBEX checks (CYBer security for EXposed Persons) at federal level.
The BSI also participate in numerous committees that deal with current security issues. The findings obtained there are incorporated into the consultations and thus contribute to the further development of the level of security.
The BSI also cooperates with the Bundestag administration and the Chief Electoral Officer on the digital security of parliamentary elections. In addition, the BSI cooperates with numerous other security authorities such as the Federal Criminal Police Office BKA, the Federal Police BPol and the German domestic intelligence services BfV.
