The public administration PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) is used in Germany at a federal, state and municipal level. Operated by IT Security Association Germany (TeleTrusT), the European Bridge CA (EBCA) interconnects the PKIs used by participating private companies, institutions and organisations. The freedom of the EBCA from the influence of individual companies is assured by a Steering Committee that is staffed equally by representatives from business, public administration and research. To ensure quick, simple and secure communication between citizens, businesses and public officials, the public administration PCA integrates with the EBCA's PKI network of trust.
