What ist RSS?

The abbreviation "RSS" stands for Really Simple Syndication and describes an Internet-based technology based on XML. This technology is used to transmit website content quickly and easily. RSS feeds allow you to check websites for new content without having to visit them yourself. Unlike HTML pages, RSS files do not contain design and layout elements. This means that RSS files can be read and processed platform-independently. As a user, the advantages of RSS lie primarily in the time saved: it is possible to check websites quickly and effectively for changes and current content without having to visit them directly, including graphics and banners. At the same time, traffic and download times are
avoided.

The use of the service also requires - unlike a newsletter - no registration with an e-mail address. To read the RSS feed, you need a so-called RSS reader. The RSS reader reads the feeds you have subscribed to and automatically notifies you of new entries. This means that you can always keep an eye on new entries
in the areas you have selected. If you are interested in a new document, simply click on it and it will open in the browser.

How do I subscribe to RSS?

First you need to install an RSS reader on your computer. Once you have installed such a reader, you can subscribe to the RSS feeds for new documents on the website. Each RSS feed has its own address, similar to the address (URL) displayed in the header of an Internet page. In your RSS reader, you then insert the address at the appropriate place. The message from the BSI website will then appear in the reader overview. Your subscription is set up.

You can also receive RSS messages via e-mail programmes. Please contact the respective provider for information on the RSS function.
