The President - Claudia Plattner

Claudia Plattner has been the President of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) since 1 July 2023.
Claudia Plattner was born in Mainz in 1973. She has more than 20 years of experience in IT functions for companies and institutions. Most recently, she served as the Director General for Information Systems at the European Central Bank and previously held a senior position as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of DB Systel GmbH, the internal IT service provider of Deutsche Bahn.
Claudia Plattner holds a degree in mathematics (TU Darmstadt) and a master’s degree in applied mathematics from Tulane University (USA).
Vice President - Thomas Caspers

Thomas Caspers took office as Vice President of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) on March 1, 2025.
From 2019 to the beginning of 2025, Caspers headed the Directorate General Technology Strategy, before that he was Head of Seciton for the Evaluation and Operation of Cryptosystems. Before joining BSI in 2003, Caspers worked in various companies covering scientific analytical solutions and health care technology.
From 2018 to 2021, Caspers chaired NATO's Capability Panel for Information Assurance and Cyber Defense in Brussels. He represents Germany on the Governing Board of the ECCC of the EU in Bucharest since 2021 and was appointed to the Supervisory Board of the CISPA in Saarbrücken in 2023.
Caspers was born 1971 in Duisburg. He studied physics and astronomy at the University of Bonn and holds a degree in physics.
