Management Office

Together with the Special Officer for Data Protection and IT Security, the BSI Management Office comprises the Strategic Communication and Media team, the Strategic Controlling and Internal Audit team and the Strategy and Management Support team. Together, the staff who work in the Management Office provide support in relation to core strategic topics, assist senior management in the performance of their duties and act as contacts for the divisions.

Office Team 1: Strategic Communication and Media

Office Team 1 is responsible for the BSI's media profile. Working within the BSI's communication strategy, the staff in Office Team 1 work with BSI senior management and the divisions to create an annual communication plan that coordinates the strategic placement of BSI topics and messaging. Employees maintain contact with journalists, prepare topics for media consumption, author press releases, statements and backgrounders, monitor the media landscape and provide support to BSI senior management for press conferences. Staff are also responsible for designing, coordinating and developing internal communication channels, as used for keeping employees informed of internal change processes, for example.

Office Team 2: Strategic Management Accounting and Internal Audit

Staff working in Office Team 2 promote strategic thinking and results-oriented action within the BSI. The team identifies and analyses strategic opportunities and challenges, issues recommendations for action and advises senior management on goal-oriented governance for the BSI. Employees also provide support to the strategy process within the BSI, which aligns strategic decisions with specific targets, potential for success and verifiable parameters. Office Team 2 assists the divisions in the rollout of operational management accounting and, aside from day-to-day business, provides support for achieving their targets in the form of objective assessment and advice as part of internal audit work.

Office Team 3: Strategy and Management Support

Office Team 3 assists senior management staff in relation to their daily duties and schedules. This includes advising and assisting senior management on divisional topics, coordinating, developing and assessing conceptual and strategy papers, and laying the groundwork for management decision-making. The staff in Office Team 3 also work closely with the divisions and provide these with the support they need to complete tasks with relevance for management. The Team also cooperates with the divisions to provide support for the BSI strategy process. Staff also coordinate the creation of divisional targets and provide support to the divisions and senior management for the development of strategic topics. The Team also maintains high-level contact with government ministries, public safety authorities and agencies in the federal administration, as well as board-level contact with businesses and associations.
